Wakeboard Mount for GoPro

wakeboard mount for gopro

If you are a wakeboarder and you own a GoPro, you have probably explored many different options and angles for filming yourself while you’re boarding. A very popular angle is the one consists of mounting your GoPro on the front of the wakeboard while it films looking up at you. This angle is great for capturing your cuts, board tricks, and air time. It is also fairly easy to execute, if you have the right mount. Here is the the best wakeboard mount for GoPro:

The Bodhi “Floaty” Suction cup mount is easily the best mount to use to attach your GoPro to your wakeboard, or any water sporting board for that matter. I’ve been using this product for a little over 2 months now and its been just about flawless. I have this mount, and I also have GoPro’s suction mount. Bodhi’s outperforms GoPro’s in almost every category.

Air Tight Suction

Bodhi’s mount suctions better and to more surfaces than GoPro’s mount does. GoPro’s mount, in my experience, will only suction to things that are completely flat, such as glass; it won’t even work on most wooden surfaces. Bodhi’s mount still needs the surface to be mostly flat (all suction cups do) but it can handle things that are slightly rigid, such as a boat deck.

Bodhi’s mount also has 3 suction cups as opposed to GoPro’s 1. This creates a much stronger and more reliable seal than you have with just 1 point of contact. Also, 3 suction cups cuts down on the vibration of the camera while filming because it has a wider, sturdier base of suction.

Another advantage to this mount is that you don’t have to use the locking feature like you do with GoPro’s mount. The suction lock is an annoying extra step that sometimes makes you contort your hand around the base just to lock it on the surface. With Bodhi’s mount you just press it down and you’re good to go.

Its Waterproof + It Floats!

There is no need to keep this thing dry. You can suction while its wet, while the board is wet, and it even works while its underwater. This means you can throw it on your wakeboard at any time without having to get out of the water to dry off.

Maybe the most important feature of this mount: it floats. It is designed with an air-tight core that allows it to float with or without the camera attached to it. This is great because it means you can use it without the GoPro Floaty case, which often makes the camera bulkier and harder to operate. The suction cups are also bright orange which makes it super easy to find in the lake because it will float upside down, with the orange cups facing up, when its in the water.

Also the mount has an extra loop on the top of it for tethering purposes. Attach it to your wakeboard boot with some string or tethers so that if it does somehow come off, you won’t need to circle back around to go looking for it in the lake.

Simplicity

Lastly, there is no big, elaborate set of parts that this mount comes with. The camera simply slides into the rings, you choose the angle you’d like the camera to sit at, tighten it up, and you’re off to the races. This mount is so easy and painless that anybody could use it.
