The Best Wakeboard Gloves

The best wakeboard gloves that I have personally used are the O’brien Pro Skin Watersport Gloves. These gloves were made for elite rope handling in wet wakeboard and waterski conditions. If the rope keeps slipping out of your hands on that new trick you’re trying to land, or if your hands and fingers are getting fatigued quickly from holding the rope for long periods of time, these are the gloves for you. They will provide that extra grip you need so you can work harder on other parts of your wakeboarding, without having to expend the energy and pain of holding tightly onto the rope handle.

Full Finger Protection

Many watersporting gloves are half-finger gloves. I never really understood the purpose of wearing half-finger gloves because I don’t usually grip the wakeboard rope with my palms, I tend to hold it in the bends of my fingers. You don’t have to worry about this with Obrien’s gloves. The full finger protection will give you maximum grip strength wherever you hold your rope handle. This will keep your fingers less fatigued which in turn will keep you riding longer.

Wear Resistance

I have had gloves in the past that will begin to show holes after 6-12 months of heavy use. These gloves have Amara leather panels underneath the surface cloth which prevents the gloves from wearing down and showing skin. This means that these will last for many years, even with heavy use.

Easy Fit

These gloves come in sizes large, or X-large, however don’t worry if you wear a medium. Obrien’s gloves are fitted with a backhand tab and wrist straps to ensure that you can customize your fit specific to your hand size. This makes it easy to fit them snug on your hand so there is no slippage or problems while riding. I would recommend buying a size up anyways because they run slightly small, and you can always adjust it to a smaller size using the backhand tab and wrist strap features.

Glove Benefits

These gloves helped me land some awesome new tricks where I had everything down except the rope pass. Sometimes the rope is hard to hold onto when trying new tricks because the landing isn’t necessarily “clean” at first. Tough landings will put more stress on your fingers to try to hold onto the rope. It’s very frustrating when you have learned everything about a new trick but are just having trouble with the rope pass. These gloves will minimize the times you have to say “the rope slipped”, and that right there is worth the money!
