The Best Wakeboard Rope (This thing is gnarly!)

The wakeboard rope is a pretty nifty part of your wakeboarding game that can easily be manipulated in order for you to achieve different things behind the boat. When you find a good rope, that thing will become your best friend real quick. Above I have linked the rope that I PERSONALLY USE, and it is the best wakeboard rope I have ever owned.

First of all, this rope has almost no stretch which means your cuts, movements, and tugs are going to be super responsive. This will allow you to feel quicker and more nimble in the water.

Second, it has a nice wide 15-inch foam handle. The width makes it possible to position your hands in different ways, and offers a big target to grab when you are passing the handle behind your back for various tricks. Also, the foam is really forgiving on your hands and fingers. You really don’t even need gloves with this, although gloves will always help (in my opinion).

This 70ft rope has a bunch of 5 foot sections looped into it. This allows you to shorten it and lengthen it at will, simply by looping the different sections onto your wakeboard tower, or hinge, based on how far you want to be dragged behind the transom of your boat. Rope length is another super crucial thing to consider when riding. I have another blog explaining the importance of rope length here.

And finally, this bad boy is DURABLE. I’ve owned it for I think 5 years now, and it still has no fraying or damage in it. Also, It does not tangle easily. Plus it floats above water for easy to spot access after you hit a gnarly wipeout.

Listen, I know its a bit expensive. Right now its running for $169. But believe me, its worth it. There are ropes on the market for $30-40, no doubt, but what are you getting with these cheap, busted ropes? Its likely these are going to start fraying almost immediately, and you’re going to have to replace them every summer. This not only gets expensive, but it is a big hassle. This thing is going to keep you going year after year, and you won’t ever have to worry about buying another crappy wakeboard rope. At least not this century 😉
